SrinagarMuzamil Hussain of B.Com 3rd semester proved to be cut above the rest as he clocked record timing of 14:50:630 minutes to win Islamia College Annual Road Race held on Thursday.
According to the organisers, the race which started from Nishat and culminated at Duck Park Foreshore Road saw an overwhelming participation of 153 students of the college. The race was inaugurated by Prof. Muzafar Ahmed Khan-the principal of the college.
Suhail Nisar of B.Com 3rd semester and Mohsin Farooq of B .Com 1st Semester secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively by recording timings of 15:18:790 and 15:45:853 minutes.
The 4th and 5th places went to by Abid Bashir and Muzaffar Hussain of B.Com 5th semester respectively, clocking the timings of 15:46:249 and 16:11:708. In his address to the participants the Chief Guest (principal) insisted on them to whole heartedly participate in sports and adventure activities organised by the college on daily basis besides attending their academic classes regularly to keep both their body and mind fit. Prof. Shamim, Prof. Nasreen, Prof.Mehraj ud Din Gogloo, Prof. Nofiya Yousuf and several other members of the college non teaching staff were also present and let their helping hand in the smooth conduct of the race.

Convenor Sports and Hikes Committee Prof. Shamim Ah Shamim presented the vote of thanks to the participants, media and the accompanying staff at the conclusion of the event.
The event was organised by the department of Physical Education under the overall supervision of Dr. Altaf Ur Rehman Director Physical Education of the college.
The cycle race for the college students is scheduled to be held on April 28 (Saturday), from Nehru Park to Naseem Bagh Hazratbal.
