Kashmir to me resembles that coin flipped in the air where each side of the coin gets exposed to light as well as darkness for a fraction of time. What appears bright for a while doesnt take much time to turn into black and what appears black for a while looses its significance in the very next turn. Here what is practically visible looses its credibility when one ponders over the pages of history and what the history tells you looses its significance once you bump into the practicalities. Every truth becomes a lie for a while and every lie a truth. It is so confusing that once you try to run your brains seriously over it, your brain ceases to function. So in this situation what to appreciate and what to denounce becomes a huge challenge. However the political significance of Kashmir issue will always remain an obvious reality.
While the recently sacked PDP minister might have been right in highlighting the social significance of Kashmir conflict, however he cannot overrun its political significance in a situation where almost all political parties of J&K including the ruling PDP and BJP have accepted Kashmir issues political implication. BJP did that by green signaling the accession of collation alliance with PDP where both of them accepted to initiate the dialogue on Kashmir in terms of its political roots. Mr. Drabu is doubtlessly one of the most brilliant economists that India has, however his recent statement where he dismissed the political significance of Kashmir tells us that when it comes to taking a political stand on Kashmir, he needs to have one serious look over the history of this wretched heaven.
Not only the political leadership of Kashmir, there is huge evidence available in form of documents, articles etc available on internet as well as in books that supports the political significance of Kashmir issue and many global organizations including the UN have accepted this truth. UN mentions the matter in the sixth chapter of UN charter that includes all the political disputes of the globe. UN has also continuously been stressing upon India and Pakistan to resolve the matter as quickly as possible. In this situation we cannot tell people to close their eyes and enjoy the mirrors. Its simply not that simple. It would be far better for all of us to understand the problem keeping all its dimensions in view so that the most reliable solution to it could be found.
CM Mehbooba Muftis decision of sacking Drabu deserves all the appreciations. The political significance of Kashmir issue cannot be ignored at any cost. It was wonderful to see all the leaders of the ruling PDP standing together as one to back their President for such a difficult decision. Hope this move is able to send a strong message to the Centre. For Delhi its hightime to understand the sensitivity of the matter accept this simple reality that when it comes the core of Kashmir issue, there is going to be no compromises at all. Delhi should to get the message in its real sense and act wisely. Kashmir is a political issue and will always remain so until resolved.
