JAMMU: Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mir Saifullah has said that the elections to Shri Gurudwara Parbandik Committees and Board (SGPC) will be held shortly in the State.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with a delegation of Sikh Community which called on him at his office chamber today.
Discussing various issues regarding conduct of election under J&K Sikh Gurudwara and Religious Endowment Act,1973, the delegation demanded early conduct of election for Shri Gurudwara Parbandik Committees at district and Board at State level, deletion of non-Sikh voters, if any from the SGPC electoral rolls and notification for newly carved districts.
Giving patient hearing to the deputationists, the Minister said that their genuine grievances would be seriously looked into He said that demand of making amendments in J&K Sikh Gurudwara and Religious Endowment Act,1973 would also be considered.
Among others, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Pardeep Gupta, Secretary, Law Mr. G H Tantray and Senior Additional Advocate General, Mr. Gagan Basotra were present.
