KHREW (PULWAMA): Minister for Industries & Commerce, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo has said that Government will undertake a forceful marketing drive to position Jhelum Brand cement, produced by JK Cements, as one of the leading brands of the country.
The Minister said that this while addressing a function organized at JK Cements Plant, here today.
MD JK Cements, RK Razdan, Director Industries, Kashmir, Mehrajuddin Keenu, MD SIDCO, Muazzam Bakshi, Director Handicrafts, Muzaffar Hussain, MD SICOP, AK Tickoo and MD JKI Javed Iqbal were present on the occasion.
The Minister said that it has been made mandatory for all departments of Kashmir division to procure cement from JK Cements. However, the Minister said, the Government will take several measures to market the brand outside the State and other parts of the country.
Kichloo assured the employees that the management of JK Cements will prioritize their issues and take immediate action so that the benefits of profit are justifiably shared.
Regarding starting additional unit of JK Cements on the land available with the company, the Minister directed the MD to immediately move a proposal for examination. “We have land available. We will see that another unit is taken up so that production is further increased,” the Minister said.
The Minister, while emphasizing on maintaining the quality of the cement produced, said that adequate raw material supplies should be ensured. He added that modernization of the existing plant is the need of the hour. “The plant is old and its maintenance is of vital importance. We will prioritize the same for maintaining our present production levels,” he said.
The Minister asked MD to immediately send a proposal for granting health allowance to the employees who work in hazardous environs at the plant premises.
The administer thanked the management and the employees for giving him such a resounding welcome after taking over as Minister incharge Industries & Commerce.
