Srinagar: Vice Chancellor Islamic University of Science and Technology Awantipora (IUST ) Prof A R Trag while addressing the college principals and academic administrators during the valedictory session of a two days seminar -cum-workshop on Management Development in Higher Education stressed the need for imparting moral and ethical education to students.
The event was organized by Academic Staff College Kashmir university at the committee room of the administrative block.
Prof Trag said that a teacher has to be a role model and it is just by his sheer efforts that we can build the future of our student community. Saying that Management Development in Higher Education is a very big issue which all of us need to address Prof Trag appreciated the efforts of university in organising such events of importance . Vice chancellor IUST later gave certificates of participation to the college principals and other participants who attended the 2 days course.
Registrar Kashmir University Prof Zafar A Rishi said that institutions of higher learning are known by the people working in them and he looked forward to what he termed as a consistent ,regular and meaningful engagement with colleges.
Earlier on the second day of the seminar different papers were presented by the college principals and the academic administrators at the Varsity.
The various themes deliberated upon by the participants were based on the quality assurance and innovation in higher education, management development, assessment and accreditation, e-governance and role of information technology in higher education.
While presenting her paper on Virtual mode of teaching and learning in higher education: Necessity and possibilities Dr Saleema Jan Scientist at EMMRC KU called for judicious use of technology to change the current education system.
Some of the speakers called for that the introduction of the meaningful and skillful courses to be introduced so that the students of the valley may not lag behind in the competitive field.
At the end of the day a meaningful question -answer session took place where participants actively participated.
Earlier welcoming the guests Director ASC and seminar Director Prof Farooq Fayaz Seminar briefed the participants about the nature of the two-day seminar and said that these recommendations of the seminar would be forwarded to the relevant quarters in higher education which will help them in careful planning and policy making for education sector of the valley.
