SRINAGAR: More snow and rains in the upper reaches are expected in Jammu and Kashmir from Thursday due to fresh western disturbance in the state.
A fresh WD, originating in Arabian sea and entering the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, is approaching the state, spokesperson for Meteorological department said.
During the subsequent two days, there would be rain or snow at higher reaches. He said the minimum temperature will drop but the maximum will improve.
The minimum temperature remained below normal in the summer capital, Srinagar, where it was minus 1.6 degree. Pahalgam with minus 6.7 degree was coldest in the Kashmir valley followed by minus 4.6 degree at ski resort of Gulmarg, Qazigund minus 3.6 degree, Kokernag minus 3.2 degree and Kupwara minus 1.8 degree.
There was no respite from the cold in Ladakh region where the minimum temperature remained between minus 12 degree to minus 25 degree. Kargil recorded minus 12.4 degree minimum temperature. In the higher reaches, including near the Line of Control (LoC), and Drass the night temperature was between minus 15 degree to minus 25 degree. Agencies
