SRINAGAR: Cloudy sky in plains provided some relief to the people in the Kasmir valley as night temperature improved considerably. However, fresh snowfall was experienced on upper reaches, including Pahalgam, a Met spokesman said here today.
He said the weather will remain dry for the next 24 hours and there will be no large change in weather during subsequent two days.
Despite an improvement in the mercury, people in the Ladakh region continued to shiver as the minimum remained below minus ten degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam received a light to heavy snowfall last night. The health resort also received few inches of fresh snowfall early this morning. On the upper reaches, including the holy shrine and its periphery Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Pisso top and Panjterni besides Chandanwari, received light to moderate snowfall. Because of the fresh snowfall, the minimum temperature had registered a considerable improvement from yesterday’s minus 11.4 degrees to minus 5 degrees at Pahalgam, the spokesman said.
The other heights in south Kashmir also received fresh snowfall early this morning.
