SRINAGAR: A truck driver was electrocuted on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Monday, when a high tension wire fell on his vehicle, triggering protests and blockade of the highway in Ramban district, police said.
The live high tension wire fell on the truck at Ramsoo area of Ramban district resulting in electrocution of driver Liyaqat Ali today, a police official said.
The death triggered protests on the highway, with protesters blaming the power department for negligence.
Following the blockade, there was a heavy traffic jam on the highway. A case was registered in this connection and probe is on, police said.
