SRINAGAR: Six burglars were arrested and a large quantity of stolen merchandize worth lakhs of rupees was recovered from them by the police in Sopore today.
The arrests solved eleven cases of burglaries in Sopore, police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
A spate of burglaries in shops was reported in Sopore in recent months. Sopore Police had assured the trading community of Sopore that police will take all measures to stop the recurrence of burglaries and detect that case of burglaries at an earliest, the statement said.
Sopore police constituted a special investigation team to solve the cases of burglaries.
During the investigation of the cases Sopore police succeeded in apprehending six burglars, from their instances large quantities of stolen merchandize were recovered from different places, it added.
Those arrested include Ishfaq Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Arampora Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Siraj son of Abdul Hamid resident of Model Town, Arfat Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam. Hassan resident of Nowpora, Adil Akbar Bhat son of Mohammad Akbar resident of Rebban, Salman Khan son of Nazir Khan resident of Arampora and Javaid Ahmad son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Arampora. Two of the arrested were the receivers of the stolen property.
The recoveries from them include of Taj Mahal oil 5 lts 25 nos, Taj Mahal oil 2 ltrs 16 nos, King oil 5 ltrs 12 nos, Exide battery 01 nos, UPS 01 nos, Vival Soap 1 Box, Tea Kalyani 02 bags, Tea Somavar 02 bags, Khushboo Lipton Tea 15 boxes, Umbrella=02 nos, Elephantine Haldi 40 packets, Rehmat Haldi 10 packets, Mirch Rehmat 50 Packets, Sweet Tokri 60 nos, Soap Tide 60 packets, Cigarette Cavanders 09 boxes, Cigarette Nave cut 02 box, Nave cut Regular Size 06 boxes, Gold Flake Cigarette 20nos, Gold Flake King Size 01 box, Soap V-Brand 02 boxes, Match box 01 box, Gold Flake long 45 packets, Gold Flake Short 37 packets, Torch 16 nos, Lisa Soap 01 box, Nestlé Chocolate 11 nos, Chocolate 2 bottles, Chocolate milky bar 11 nos, Butter Nutrilite 38 pieces, Head & shoulder 48 packets, Trunk 01 nos, Jean pant 62 pieces, Pent trouser type 04 nos, Jacket 03 nos, Coat Pant 02 nos, Shirts 30 nos, Tee shirts= 01 nos, Upper Black 01 nos, Shoe Black 01 nos, Shirt 01 nos, Kurta Pajama 01 nos, Mobile Cell phones 06 nos, the statement added.
With the arrests of these six burglars and the recoveries made from them has solved 11 cases of burglaries that had taken place in the Sopore town in the recent months, it added.
