Kashmir issue has to be resolved bilaterally
SRINAGAR: The National Conference today asked the PDP to come clear as to whether the Kashmir issue is a bilateral issue between India & Pakistan or a multilateral issue for the UN to get involved while reiterating the stand that Kashmir issue has to be resolved bilaterally.
We know this from the very beginning. If Kashmir issue is to be resolved, then it will be between India and Pakistan. We have consistently maintained that it is a bilateral issue and it should be solved bilaterally keeping in mind the sentiments and aspiration of the people of both sides of J&K National Conference spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said in a statement here today.
Its amusing to see a hateful statement from opposition. It is a very well known fact that PDP and their leaders are famous for their intrigue, dirty machinations. They should come clean on their position, they are proving to be the worst example of running with the hare and hunting with the hound, he added.
UNMOGIP observers have been stationed at the ceasefire line between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir since 1949 to supervise the ceasefire between the two neighbours. They have no mandate built around the actual resolution of the Kashmir issue said Tanvir
Since their mandate came in to existence India has faced aggression from the neighbor in the 60’s, 70’s, in Kargil and for more than 2 decades with infiltration and militancy with UNMOGIP unable to do anything about it he added
The ceasefire along the line of control has been the result of bilateral efforts and not as a result of UNMOGIP Tanvir said adding We have consistently maintained that the Kashmir issue has to be resolved bilaterally between the two countries keeping in mind the sentiments and aspirations of the people of both sides of J&K
“We understand that some people would confuse the withdrawal of the UNMOGIP with the ultimate resolution of the problem of Jammu and Kashmir, but the UNMOGIP was placed here because of the tensions along the LoC and not because of the partition of India and Pakistan.”
Stating that the president of United states had also ruled out any intervention the NC spokesman said “Even President Obama had said that it is not the place of any nation, including his own to try and impose solutions from the outside. Disputes between India and Pakistan can only be resolved by the two countries themselves adding We believe there is no role for UNMOGIP in present context.
Reacting to various statement the NC spokesman said They are not only issue less but also disoriented, they neither know what they are saying nor do they have any historical perspective. These leaders and parties have lost direction
