SRINAGAR: Chairman Huriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani while reiterating his appeal for shutdown in Handwara and Kupwara on 25th and 27th January has said that the people in district Kupwara have plyed a leading role in the ongoing movement and offered unparalleled sacrifices.
Refuting the conceptions of pro-Indian politicians about the people of Kupwara, Syed Ali Geelani said, They are worst sufferers at the hands of Indian forces and its agencies have unleashed a reign of terror in the said district and its adjoining areas.
In a press statement Geelani refuted the conception that people of Kupwara are disinterested and have disassociated themselves from the freedom movement and said that their commitment and dedication stands a testimony in the history of Kashmir and they still stand at forefront .
Geelani said that it is the obligatory duty for the people associated with movement to safeguard these sacrifices and deny the claims of pro India politicians.
Recalling the gruesome incident, Syed Ali Geelani said that on 25th January, 1990 and 27th January 1994 Indian forces created mayhem and in brutal manner killed hundreds of innocent civilians in district Kupwara.
Syed Ali Geelani urged people to exhibit their affiliation and reaffirm their faith with the movement and observe complete shutdown on 27th January and added that it will prove that spirits of people are still live and bargains for these sacrifices wont be allowed.
