SRINAGAR: Announcing a new programme, the JKLF on Saturday said that it would hold silent protests in central Srinagar twice a month to protest against death penalties and life sentences awarded to Kashmiri detainees.
It would also hold a march on Monday in the heart of the city in memory of the victims of the Gaw Kadal massacre.
According to the JKLF, it has planned to hold silent protests at the Madina Chowk in central Srinagar on the 2nd of every month and at the Pratap Park on the 20th of every month against recent court verdicts against Kashmiri detainees in old cases.
After two of its members were sentenced to life in prison over the killing of a member of the BSF over twenty years ago, the JKLF has launched a prolonged stir, terming the verdicts as judicial violence by New Delhi.
Following its 10-day jail bharo campaign this month over the verdict, the JKLF had announced to hold sit-ins at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, besides monthly candle-light marches in the Indian capital.
