AnantnagIn a clear case of violation of norms, the Sub district hospital Kokernag in south Kashmir‘s Anantnag district is charging double the amount on OPD ticket.
The nominated rate printed by the health department on the Outdoor Patient Department ticket is rupees five, but this hospital charges ten rupees for every OPD ticket without any proper government approval.
As per the locals, the rates on medical tests like ultra sonography and blood test, x ray tests have also been doubled as compared to the other hospitals,
The hospital authorities have turned deaf ears when asked about the fleecing of the government services without governments approval, the amount in not huge but the self attested stamp made by the hospital looks dubious and must be investigated,”a local said.
Even the higher ups in the hospital are cluless as nobody is disclosing as to where the additional money goes, he added .
However, the officials refute the claim, saying that the additional amount is directly deposited in the hospital accounts and is audited.
The amount is goes directly to the government accounts and is used for developmental wors.
The decision regarding this hike has been taken by the Hospital Development Committee, the Chairman of which is the MLA of the area. This committee is fully authorized to take such decisions unilaterally after a proper approval by its members, says BMO Kokernag.
When contacted CMO Anantnag says, he is not authorized to interfere into the working of this committee as the concerned MLA is himself heading it. “I will try to look into this matter,” he said.
