SrinagarThe first Meeting of the Advisory Committee for Coordination and Governance of B.Voc Tourism and Hospitality Management was held at Nowgam-II administrative cum academic block with Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir in chair.
Dean School of Business Studies and Head Department of Tourism, Prof. S Fayyaz, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Head, Standard Tourism Hospitality Skill Council, Ms. Jyoti Joshi, MD Khyber Resorts, Gulmarg, Mr. Umar Trumboo, President TAAK, Mr. Ashfaq Siddiq Dug, and nodal officer, B.Voc, Mr. Ashaq Hussain Najar were present during the meeting.
The participants discussed several issues related to programme threadbare and underscored the need of making the programme more practical oriented. The members asked the department to organise group discussions among the students on the contemporary issues confronting the tourism sector, particularly in the Valley. They also deliberated on the use of social media and other advertising means in promotion of tourism in the Kashmir.
Earlier, Dean School of Business Studies and Head Department of Tourism, Prof. S Fayyaz, welcomed the guests and gave the detailed account about the B.Voc programme.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, also informed the participants about the importance of skill education and community development.
Nodal officer, B.Voc, Mr. Ashaq Hussain Najar also made a detailed presentation about the subject on the occasion.
