SrinagarDivisional Commissioner Kashmir on Monday assured quarry holders of resolving their core issue without any delay.
Quarry holders have been accusing the government of adopting callous attitude towards them. They have been demanding that they should be allowed to operate from suitable quarries either at Athwajan, Alfathe or Pantachowk. These quarry holders who have been staging protest from couple of days have been alleging that the quarry sites assigned to them by government at Shalguph and Zewan are worthless and people in those areas are not permitting to work there.
To resolve their issue, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmed Khan called Joint Director Geology and Mining Department and directed him to identify a suitable location for these quarry holders.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir gave us a patient hearing. We are thankful to him for passing directions to the Geology and Mining. We hope, he will resolve our issue, President United Quarry Association Mushtaq Ahmed told news agency CNS.
He said: We requested Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to implement the recommendations of the committee headed by ADC Srinagar wherein he has asked government to allow quarry holders to lift lose material through blasting.
Muhammad Maqbool, president Himalayan Quarry and Tippers Association said that Divisional Commissioner Kashmir asked us to resume the work at Aaripora area while we requested him to compensate those quarry holders who may not get adjusted at that location. We hope the Divisional Commissioner will resolve our issue without any delay, he said.
