SrinagarTaking cognizance of issues raised by the traders regarding the shortage of trucks in Valley for transporting fruit outside the state, Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Bukhari today directed for immediate redressal of the same for timely transportation of the produce.
The Minister, who is on a visit to Thailand, directed the concerned including Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Secretary Horticulture and Inspector General Traffic Police to sort out the issue immediately and ensure that there shall be check on vehicles demanding extra fare to carry horticulture produce.
Bukhari directed I G Traffic for taking measures for hassle-free movement of fruit carrying trucks to avoid inconvenience faced by the fruit growers and traders.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir informed the Minister that the officers of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) have been directed to divert all the vehicles coming from outside State with food grains to different Mandis as per requirement in consultation with Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing.
Later, on the instructions of the Minister, Secretary Horticulture convened a meeting with concerned officials. He directed them to work in close coordination to ensure hassle-free and timely transportation of fruit carrying trucks outside the State.
Earlier, on September 23 the Minister had convened a meeting with concerned Departments regarding hassle free and timely transportation of horticulture industry produce so that growth, as well as traders, fetches good returns.
