According to a police official, a braid chopping incident was reported from Chanpora area wherein one Wasim Yousuf Bhat of Roselane colony.
Bhat complained that braid of his wife, Aasia, 27, was chopped by some unknown person after spraying some substance on her face when she was near the bathroom in their compound, the official said. She was immediately shifted to hospital and police also rushed to the hospital.

The woman had, undoubtedly, gone out alone to use the bathroom outside the house. We came to know the woman had lost her mother and her mother-in-law recently sending her into a state of depression, the official said. There were no injury marks on her.
Police noted that Aasia had delivered a baby recently. However, her mother and mother-in-law, who were a huge support to her following her childs birth, died soon after.
Clinical psychologists suggest that it could be a case of postpartum depressiona condition which occurs after the delivery of baby to a mother. The depression remains intense for the first 6 months post delivery. Mother finds it difficult to cope up with new additional responsibilities. She has sleepless nights, mood swinging and her biological clock gets disturbed. In this case, the mother of the victim and her mother-in-law both a big support to her had expired. This aggravated her condition which led her to resort to the act.
Her family is attending to her and she is now getting all their attention and sympathy.
