SrinagarJammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (J&K SRTC) management has agreed to revive its football team in near future, a statement from Jammu and Kashmir Football Association claimed on Monday. J&K SRTC- once a force in J&K football- had virtually ended its football activities in recent years to have its fans disappointed.
SRTC used to have strong fan base in the valley especially down town Srinagar who would fill the grounds in 70s and 80s to watch their favourite team in action. Late 90s and the turn of the century saw J&K SRTC win up its football team owing to financial crisis in the organization.

But, with J&K SRTC starting to stand on its feet in terms of profits, they are contemplating to revive its football team-its face in yesteryears. To begin with, an exhibition match was played between J&K SPDC team and SRTC team with Vice-Chairman Haji Parvez Ahmad, Mir Afroz Ahmad and MD SRTC and its other officers in attendance.
According to the statement, J&K SRTC top management has assured the JKFA that SRTC Football team will renew its registration and revive the team by inducting talented players who shall be spotted and selected by association experts very shortly.
They (SRTC management) also agreed to organize a football tournament shortly, the statement read.
JKFA has hailed the decision and hoped that it would soon see SRTC playing competitive football.
