SrinagarMinister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Saturday chaired a meeting here at SKICC to review progress on various decisions taken during last District Development Board Kupwara meeting.
The meeting resolved to pursue timely funding for various projects for infrastructural up-gradation, capacity building and beautification works in the district for their time bound completion.
The meeting was informed that out of total approved Rs 21924.79 lakh outlay for current fiscal as many as Rs 6158.32 lakh have been spent so far on various developmental projects. Giving the break up about the expenditures incurred under various sectors, it was revealed that under rural developmental sector by September this year 3741.91 lakh were spent against total of Rs 7078 lakh under MGNREGA (SGRY) scheme, while under IAY (PMAY) out of approved Rs 1419.81 lakh as many as Rs 705.50 lakh have been spent, so far. Likewise, under Irrigation and PHE under minor irrigation Rs 222.15 lakh have been spent out of approved Rs 1309.86 lakh.
The meeting informed that out of 36 decisions taken in the previous meeting held in March this year, 21 were implemented and the rest are nearing their completion.
Expressing his contentment over the work carried out so far, Zulfkar Ali said most of the decisions taken in last Board meeting have been implemented. He said the present dispensation is committed to its resolve of addressing the issues pertaining to people living in remote areas.
The Minister said that decisions taken by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during her recent visit to the area assured complete support from her office to ensure that work on all the developmental projects goes on unabated and gets completed in time bound manner. He impressed upon the concerned officers to ensure that the commitments made by the CM should be fulfilled without any ado.
Member of Parliament, Mir Fayaz Ahmad, Legislators Engineer Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Raja Manzoor Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad Dar, and Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, besides District Development Commissioner Khalid Jahangir, District and Sectoral officers were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, Zulfkar Ali impressed upon the officers to redouble their efforts for development of the district. He said good governance should be the benchmark of any government, and implementation and completion of projects within given time frame depicts it.
He directed the officers to personally monitor the progress of all ongoing projects and developmental activities. He said the personally monitoring by officers will not only help in maintaining the quality of work, but would also help in ensuring that all the projects get completed within stipulated time.
Reiterating the Governments resolve of ensuring accountability, Zulfikar Ali said accountability holds key for the efficient public delivery system. The Minister stressed on timely completion of all developmental projects so that their benefit percolates to the grass root level.
Highlighting the importance of the board meeting, Zulfkar Ali said that Board is a very sacred institution and it is important to maintain its sanctity by ensuring all the decisions taken here are implemented in letter and spirit.On the occasion, the legislators projected various demands and issues concerning their respective constituencies and sought their early redressal.
