TEHRAN: Buoyed by the success of its recently launched 24×7 Arabic movie channel, Iran today announced the launch of iFilm TV channel in English in the near future. The head of Iranian Broadcasting said that Iranian movies and TV-dramas will be shown on the English iFilm channel either dubbed or with subtitles.
iFilm, an Arabic network based in Iran was launched on August 11, 2010. The original purpose of the channel is to present Iranian films and serials to the Arab world.
iFilm targets 300 million strong Arab speaking societies around the globe. It presents internationally acclaimed Iranian films and TV dramas to the Arab World and in particular, the Middle East region.
The TV entertainment programs in today’s world place too much reliance on elements like sex or violence; the latter problem creates concern and anxiety for Muslim audiences and their families when looking to access TV entertainment channels, an Iranian analyst said.
Taking into account the healthy moral outlook of Iranians on visual arts, Muslim families absorb this network’s programs with complete confidence, he added.
TV serials, movies, live quizzes on arts, backstage documentaries on films and ongoing productions, movie and film reviews, short films and documentaries, commercials and more form parts of the daily programming for the network.
