Srinagar The Jammu and Kashmir Police today sanctioned scholarships for the children of 24 police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
“Director General of Police S P Vaid has sanctioned scholarship for 38 wards of 24 deceased police personnel,” a police spokesman said.
The spokesman did not give the period when the police personnel died.
He said a scholarship of Rs 1.13 lakh has been granted out of the Central Police Welfare Fund for the academic year 2016-17.
“The wards of the deceased police personnel include 17 students of primary and middle classes and 21 students of high school and under-graduate level,” he added.
Each ward will get nearly Rs 3,000 per annum, he said.
