KupwaraMassive fire has erupted in four forest compartments in Kupwara district which has damaged a large portion of the green gold.
The fire engulfed compartment number 116 Shundi Kalaroos, compartment number 19 Sogam Lolab, compartment numbers 31,32 Satkochi and Rajwar Handwara.
The fire in Shundi Kalaroos Kupwara compartment number 116 continues from the last two days, while in Sogam Lolab compartment number 9 the fire started 10 days ago and continued to wreak havoc with flora and fauna there.
In Satkochi Rajwar Handwara compartment no 31, 32, the fire is raging from last three days, sources said.
However, DFO Langate Mohammad Ayub Pandit said he doesnt know that any fire has erupted in his jurisdiction.
DFOs of Lolab and Kamraj could not be reached for their comments. (KNS)
