SRINAGAR: While terming the recent statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah casting aspersions over the conglomerates sincerity towards solution of Kashmir as being contrary to realities, Hurriyat Conference (M) has said such statements were being deliberately issued by the CM with an aim to create confusion.
In a statement issued here, the spokesman said that Omar Abdullah should know that APHC believes in solving the K dispute through meaningful dialogue. He said the recent Hurriyat visit on the invitation of Pakistan to that country was continuation of that policy.
The spokesperson said that the conglomerate has conducted several rounds of negotiations with Pakistan over the K dispute and that several rounds of meetings and talks were held with the Union of India as well. However, the party stressed it was due to the stubbornness in the Indian stand which resulted in failure of talks.
The spokesman said that the conglomerate has already put some suggestions before the GoI years ago which would have helped in creating conducive atmosphere in connection with the resolution of K issue. Unfortunately,so far Delhi has responded coldly to those suggestions, he added.
Hurriyat (M) said the conglomerate believes that it is due to Kashmir dispute that Kashmiris has suffered endlessly since 1947. The party said the human sufferings in the state of Jammu and Kashmir would continue till it is not solved according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
The so called Chief Minister has always repeatedly called for the restoration of negotiations, but such statements are nothing more than the traditional political gimmicks. He is in no position to play a role in the restoration of talks, neither has he any authority to revoke infamous black laws like AFSPA from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the statement said.
The spokesman made it clear that the Hurriyat was never averse to meaningful talks, nor does it have any hesitation to sit on the negotiating table since the conglomerates stand on K issue is clear. He said the APHC wants the resolution of K issue through pending resolutions of Kashmir in the UN, or through meaningful and result oriented dialogue between the three main stake holders- India Pakistan and Kashmir- of the dispute.
Spokesman said the CM has failed to solve the daily problems faced by the poor Kashmiris. He further said it would be better for Omar Abdullah if he would remain focused on improving the administration for which he has asked people to vote for him.
As far as Kashmir dispute is concerned, we would highly suggest him that it would be better for him to motivate India for meaningful negotiations on K dispute rather than opining his views regarding APHC, spokesman said.
The APHC said that CM should concentrate on his duties rather than reminding APHC about its responsibilities.
Those people who have no power even to revoke or bring slight amendments in AFSPA and other black laws, those who have failed to provide water, power and roads to people, for them having even an opinion regarding solution of internationally recognized K dispute does not make any sense. It would be better for them to reserve their judgments on such big matters, spokesman said.
