SrinagarIn a shocking incident, a tractor driver was beaten to pulp by people after his owner branded him a braid chopper as he was demanding his withheld salary from him at Handwara area of Kupwara district of north Kashmir, police said.
SP Handwara Ghulam Jeelani told news agency GNS that one Jameel Ahmad Dar used to work as Tractor driver with one Muhammad Sultan Lone of Gundchobutra Kralgund in Handwara.
Yesterday, he went to Lone’s house to get his pending salary amounting to Rs 50,000 but to his utter surprise, the owner firstly, on one or other pretext refused to pay him and then branded him as braid chopper and created a scene in the village which attracted attention of other villagers who without any confirmation beat him to pulp, injuring him seriously, he said.
The injured was first shifted to Baramulla where from he has been shifted to SKIMS Soura for further treatment, the SSP said, adding that the mischievous elements use this braid chopping as a tool in their personal disputes, thus creating chaos.
FIR has been registered in this regard at Kralgund police station against the accused and the investigation has been taken up, he added. (GNS)
