TralThe bears have wreaked havoc with back to back attacks to humans, injuring seven persons including two ladies, from last week besides damaging orchards in different areas of Tral sub division of South Kashmir.
The locals while talking to Kashmir Observer said that people in Tral villages have been facing threat to life and property by the presence of these bears.
The locals added that back to back attacks to humans by bears besides damaging orchards in Aripal, Shikaragah and Panzoo areas of Tral sub division have confined the masses in their houses.
The residents accused the Wildlife Department of ignoring the presence of bears in the area despite repeated requests to them.
We apprised the authorities many times about the life threats faced by the people due to presence of bears, but they turned deaf ears, the locals said and urged the higher officials of the Department to take immediate action in this regard.
Kashmir Observer while confirming the details from Sub District Hospital Tral, after three recent attacks since yesterday in which three persons were injured , learnt that seven such attacks have been recorded in the region since last week.
During the recent attacks two ladies namely Shabina Jan D/O Ghulam Mohammad and Asha Bano W/O Gh Qadir, both residents of Shojan-Panzoo Village, 8 Kilometers from sub district headquarter Tral, were also injured.
When contacted concerned Range Officer Tral Zone , Mr Iqbal Khursheed , he denied the information about seven attacks recorded in Sub district hospital and said only three incidents happened since yesterday in which three people injured.
When asked about the presence of bears in mentioned areas, said that “Soon after the information about the presence of wild bears and their attacks in the area , Our team has already launched the operations in these areas to chase the bears away”.
“People should restrict their movement till fresh rains and should also cooperate with the department to chase away or capture these wild bears” he said.
Meanwhile, Panic gripped in many areas of Tral after two recent attacks in just 20 hours.
