SrinagarThousands of people attended a procession taken out to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Zain-ul-Aabideen (AS) in Shalimar, Srinagar on Monday.
Hurriyat leader Agha Syed Hassan al Safvi led the mourning procession.
The procession was taken out after the culmination of noon prayers at Zainabiya Park Shalimar and soon after the address of Aga Hasan.
Agha dwelt in length about the supreme sacrifice of Imam Zain-ul-Abideen. He also threw light on life and teachings of Imam Hussain (AS) and asked people to follow the path and teachings of martyred Imam.
The martyrs of Karbala have set an example before us through their deeds, which will remain a beacon light for all of us till the last day of this world, he said. He also prayed for the whole Muslim Ummah for peace, unity and integrity.
