SrinagarUnidentified militants on Friday evening lobbed a Chinese made hand grenade at Brari Pora Chowk near Nawa Kadal Srinagar, news reports said.
However, the grenade did not explode. No injuries were reported. This is not for the first time that militants in Kashmir have launched an attack like this.
Earlier in September, one person was killed along with 14 others injured after a grenade was hurled at Jehangir Chowk in uptown Srinagar.
SP Srinagar Imtiaz Parray told PTI that some miscreant tried to throw a grenade on the deployment but reportedly it exploded close to him. The miscreant was himself injured in the attack which took place at around 5.40 pm on September 7.
Earlier in April, a policeman was killed along with 10 others injured in a grenade attack in Nowhatta. According to a report , a police party was attacked near a police station in Nowhatta in downtown Srinagar when cops were returning from duty around 7 pm on April 2.Three suicide attackers carrying a massive arsenal of guns and explosives attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) camp near the Srinagar airport earlier this month. The militants opened fire which claimed life of a BSF soldier.
