SrinagarSarjan Barkati, popularly known as pied piper of South Kashmir, has been shifted to Srinagar central Jail again Wednesday after keeping him at Police station Heerpora Shopian for the last 25 days.
Family sources said that Barkati was brought to Police station Heerpora 25 days ago and the police had told them that he would be released in a weeks time.
We use to go to the police station in the morning and would leave in the evening waiting he would be released today or tomorrow. The police at the police station gave us a hope that he would be released. But on Wednesday he was shifted back to central jail Srinagar, Barkatis wife said.
She said Barkatis health condition in the jail has deteriorated and the further detention may risk his life as well.
Barkati was arrested by Police in October last year. Barkati was instrumental in organising pro-freedom rallies in south Kashmir during the uprising that had erupted after the killing militant commander Burhan Wani. (KNS)
