SrinagarFollowing the concern expressed by some citizens over the dilapidated condition of the SPS Museum, the Minister for Works, Naeem Akhtar Wednesday visited the heritage depository in Rajbagh area here to personally take stock of its condition.
The Minister expressed dismay over the poor maintenance of the building and the lack of lavatory facilities there.
He asked the executing agency, the Police Housing Corporation to complete all pending construction works and repair the damage to the structure and interiors at the earliest so that the Museum is made fully functional.
The Minister said that the Museum should get the eminence commensurate with the value of the treasure trove it houses including the religious scriptures, artefacts and other valuable cultural heritage.
Akhtar said all the necessary measures would be taken to restore the glory of this prized depository.
