Srinagar A Majlis-e-Hussaini was held at a local hotel here on Monday where speakers dwelt on the heroic battle of Karbala where blood attained victory over sword.
The Majliss was jointly organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Imamia Foundation Srinagar at Hotel Shah Abbas in the memory of Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh).
Noted academician Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurdah presided over the function.
Member State Accountability Commission, Justice (Rtd) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani, Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini and President Imamia Foundation, Imdad Saki were also present.
On the occasion an extension lecture was given by Justice Kirmani on the topic Karbala and Imam Hussain.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that such events held on special occasions play a vital role in giving a message of brotherhood and harmony to the civil society.
In his presidential remarks, Prof. Azurdah appreciated the Academy for holding such events.
As part of the event a Hussaini Mushaira was also held. Those who participated in the Mushaira included Zaman Azurdah, Naseem Shafiyee, Rukhsana Jabeen, Shabib Rizvi, Shoukat Ansari, Rafiq Raaz, Ghulam Hassain Ghamgeen, Shad Ramzan, Ayub Sabir and Zareef Ahmad Zareef among others.
Several prominent members of civil society attended the event. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Academys Assistant Editor, Encyclopaedia, Syed Iftikhar Ahmad.
