SrinagarThe Court of 1st Additional Sessions Judge, Srinagar directed government to lodge ailing pro-freedom woman leader, Syedah Asiya Andrabi, in Central jail Srinagar.
Syedah Asiya Andrabi is the Chairperson of pro-freedom womens organization Dukhtaren-e-Miltant .
Asiya and here aide Fehmeeda Sofi are under trial in an old case and were produced before the court. The court sent Asiya to judicial custody.
Asiya was lodged in Amphalla jail Jammu soon after her PSA was quashed by the High Court in May this year.
Jammu and Kashmir High Court also in June this year had asked the state government to consider shifting of pro-freedom leaders Masarat Alam and Asiya Andrabi from Kot Balwal jail Jammu to a Kashmir Jail, however, government didnt act.
Pertinently a day before todays court directions, State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) while acting on the petition filed by
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has directed the state government to transfer incarcerated Asiya Andrabi to any jail in Kashmir.
