BudgamShia Muslims here opted a new way of protest by wearing pro-Kashmir armbands, badges and T-shirts during Muharram procession in central Kashmir’s Budgam township on Saturday.
From Burma to Nigeria, from Yemen to Syria, from Palestine to Kashmir Karbala is Alive! only we need to stand like Hussain (AS) reads a T-shirt of mourner.
“Every time we proved our love and support to Kashmir’s struggle and this is only a follow-up,” said a group of mourners.
While reiterating Muharam itself was ‘resistance against every tyrant’ they said, “This procession is against every oppressor on the earth.”
Free Kashmir, Mazloom (oppressed) Kashmir and various messages could be seen written in processions.

“Muharram symbolizes resistance and wearing resistance armbands is a part of this holy month,” they added.
It was after a long time , residents of Budgam particularly youth used Muharram gathering to express their support to the ‘freedom struggle’ of Kashmir.
They said that the propagandists who were labelling them anti-Kashmir have bveen defeated today.
Irfan Ali a mourner said, “Karbala is hope to all oppressed people of world including Kashmir, the message of Karbala is eternal for all times to come and this is mission that mourners are carrying, adding that time and ground reality demands that ‘Anti-Shia rhetoric needs to be shunned in Kashmir’.
“We were and will be with our majority brethren of Kashmir in every field,” expressed a black clad group of mourners.

They asked ‘enemies of unity’ to come and stand against injustice. “Some people are hell bent upon to character assassinate us; now we hope they will not utter a word against us,” they added.
Akhter Jaan another mourner insisted, “I am a Shia and I am against every oppressor who terrorise innocent people.”
With reciting Nowhas and chest beating, thousands of shia Muslims took to streets and held processions.
While remembering the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S) mourners said, “Yazid is the name of a filthy ideology and Muharam teaches us how and why to raise voice against injustice.”
