SrinagarIFC Nowgam piped Noorbagh Football Club 2-1 in the summit clash to take B-division league title of State Football League-2017 played at Synthetic Turf TRC, a statement from Jammu and Kashmir Football Association.
The title decider turned out to be a mouth watering contest with a large number of fans who had turned up to watch the game treated to some quality football.
Right from the word go, IFC Nowgam and Noorbagh FC forward line attacked each others goal posts, but it was Ummer Farooq of IFC Nowgam who got his side infront in the 27th minute of the game. Ishfaq Ahmad extended IFC Nowgams lead in the 47th minute to give his side edge.
With two goals in arrears, Noorbagh upped the ante in search of goals. It was in 68th minute Dawood draw first blood for Noorbagh FC to lessen the lead. Noorbagh FC continued its merry way but IFC Nowgam made sure their one-goal remains intact till the final hooter. The victory meant IFC Nowgam pocketed the B-division title.
The other two matches included A-Division encounter between Novelty FC and Court Road FC which ended in a goal less draw while in Super Division match Real Kashmir FC defeated State Football Academy (SFA) Juion by two goals to nil.
In the A-Division match, played at Polo Ground, Novelty FC played a goalless draw with Court Road FC. Both the teams missed several scoring chances and couldnt open the account till the referee blew the final whistle.
In the Super Division match, played at Synthetic Turf TRC, Real Kashmir FC beat DFA Junior by two goals to nil. Faisal Baba was the scorer for the winning team.
Meanwhile, the State Football League, a mega event first of its kind in the history of J&K football, is going on at different venues of the state with full swing drawing huge crowds to the football venues. More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, the aim of which is to unearth the hidden talent across the State.
The event is being held across the 22 districts of the state these days and is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) under the auspices of State Sports Council and on the directions of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
