AnantnagA government school in South Kashmirs Anantnag district doesnt have a toilet facility for the students and staff members.
A Govt middle school in Sofi Gund Wanpoh area of south Kashmirs Anantnag district about 2 km’s away from Anantnag town lacks basic facilities as the school has no toilet facility, playground, drinking water facility.
Sources said that the school teachers and students have to go to hundred meters away from school in an open area field for natures call
The school which runs in three room set was established in 1972, but it still doesnt have toilet facility.
A total number of 60 students are enrolled in the school besides six teachers
Last year Anantnag district achieved the unique distinction of winning the Prime Ministers Excellence Award for programme implementation in the category of Swachh Vidyalaya programme.
Talking to Kashmir observer Abdul Rashid a local resident of the area told to kashmir observer that the Government has failed to provide basic facilities of students in schools even though the quality education to the students during the present era of stiff competition. We requested several times to higher authorities to look into the matter and provide basic facilities to students in school but all goes in vain. He added.
Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Anantnag, Rifat Aara while talking to Kashmir Observer said , that there was land dispute problem in school,but we have solved the issue. We have started work for construction of toilets in school adding that within two or three days the construction of toilet facility will be completed.
