SrinagarHurriyat Conference (M) Monday condemned frequent clampdown of curfew and curbs in old city of Srinagar saying that these tactics by the government reflect its dictatorial approach towards the people of Srinagar.
A Hurriyat statement said that the old city was targeted every time any incident happens anywhere in Kashmir.
It further said by raising the bogey of maintaining law and order the whole population of the old city is repeatedly made hostage in their own homes by imposing curfews.
Hurriyat (M) further said the restrictions in the old city create immense trouble for the people including students and patients of the area and is part of the policy of governments revenge against these people.
Statement said that heavy deployment of forces around central Jamia Masjid on Fridays is a major cause of concern for the people in the area and leads to creation of tension.
Statement said that authorities should withdraw the forces from there.
Hurriyat Conference said that the aggressive tactics by the government, curfew, restrictions, and atrocities cant suppress the people for raising their voice of justice and demands of basic political right.
Statement said it has become a policy of the government to harass people and create problems for them on one pretext or other.
