KulgamNational Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) today organized a workshop on dairy development in Kulgam district where the District Development Commissioner Kulgam, (DDC) Talat Parvez Rohella was the chief guest of the function.
The purpose of the workshop was to promote the development of dairy sector in view of the immense scope of this sector in the district.
The DDM NABARD informed the farmers about the centrally sponsored schemes- DEDS which is aimed at boosting this sector. Under this scheme, NABARD would provide a subsidy of 25% for general category beneficiaries and 33.33% for SC/ST beneficiaries.
It was given out that the last date of applying for the benefits under the scheme is 30 September, 2017 and the loans would be sanctioned on first come first serve basis.
The DDC emphasized on the need for developing the dairy sector in the district for which the forward and backward linkages shall be facilitated by the department.
He called upon the bankers to finance under the sector and pass on the subsidy benefits to the farming community.
The function was attended by all the bankers of the district, the officers & officials of Animal husbandry Department, NGOs and farming community.
