SrinagarRiding on a 48-ball 60 from Mohammad Zaid, Islamia College of Science and Commerce beat Amar Singh College in the second semi-finals by two wickets to enter the finals of Prof. Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup played at Islamia College Srinagar on Thursday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Amar Singh College posted a competitive score of 197 before getting bowled out in the 30th over. Asif Ahmad and Mohammad scored fifties each with former making 52 off 37 balls and the former contributing a 38-ball 54. Imtiyaz was the most successful bowler for the hosts taking four wickets and Kamran was also amongst the wickets getting a three-fer.
Islamia College chase wasnt straightforward as they had to battle hard before reaching the target in the last over with five balls to spare and two wickets in the shed. The hero of the chase was Zaid who slammed a vital 60 off just 48 balls to give the innings a real impetus. Irfan Bahadur played an equally important innings on his way to 28-ball 33. For Amar Singh College, Owais took a brace of wickets.

Earlier, vice-principal Islamia College Prof Aijaz Bhat and Prof Abid Mirza, convener college sports committee, were introduced to the teams.
The summit clash that will be played next week will be an all Islamia College affair as Islamia College cricket team will be locking horns with Islamia College Alumni cricket team.
The tournament is being organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
