SrinagarAn army soldier was killed and three others were injured in a sniper fire by Pakistan Rangers at Keran sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir Kupwara district on Tuesday.
A senior police officer said that Pakistan Rangers in violation of ceasefire opened the sniper fire at 5/9 GR unit of the army near Pimple post in Keran sector along the LoC. Four soldiers were injured and airlifted to armys 92-base hospital at Badamibagh here, the officer said.
One of the injured identified as Rajesh Khatri was declared brought dead by the doctors who attended upon him at hospital, an army officer confirmed.
He said that army retaliated the fire and the exchange of fire continued for an hour.
