Srinagar: The Jammu High Court has issued a notice, calling government to respond by October 3 to an application by former district and sessions judge Ashok Kumar, seeking extension in time for joining presiding officer of Food Safety Appellate Tribunal Jammu.
Till date, Mr Ashok Kumar, would not be required to join and assume charge
as Presiding Officer FSAT at Jammu, unless he is otherwise relieved from his present assignment and is able to take charge, said a division bench of Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey.
In an application, Kumar, presently presiding officer Central Industrial Tribunal cum labour court Chandigarh had sought direction for extension of his joining time.
The government had issued a notification under SRO 349 on August 24, appointing Ashok Kumar Koul as presiding officer of the FSAT Jammu. He was asked to join within 21 days.
The court on previous date had ordered for proper functioning of Food Safety Tribunal at Jammu. The court was informed that the funds are available and supporting staff would be put in place shortly.
