SrinagarPeoples Democratic Party leader and legislator from Batamaloo Assembly Constituency Noor Muhammad in a communiqué to District Magistrate Srinagar and Director Information & Public Relations has requested to register an FIR against a news portal for filing a fake news about him.
Two days back a news portal had posted news claiming that Batamaloo MLA had to flee from a marriage ceremony in his constituency after other invitees and locals objected to his presence and raised slogans in Zainakote area.
Though the news portal later on took down the news report after alleged objections raised by the legislator, however, it was shared extensively on social networking sites including facebook and WhatsApp.
In his two separate letters to District Magistrate Srinagar and Director, Information & Public Relations, the Batamaloo legislator has claimed that this news report was totally baseless and fake aimed at maligning his image. Even I was not informed about the news neither they (news portal) tried to find the truth. I request to your goodself to take strong action against the news portal and FIR may be registered against it for spreading rumours that has affected my credibility. (CNS)
