Hugam a beautiful village located on the bank of a tributary of river Lidder locally called as “Aedwin” is located 12 km from district Anantnag is known for its highly educative culture and environment of co-existence and harmony. In the lap of this village a noble man Master Abdul Ahad Khanday who played an important role in shaping the future of many people died after struggling with brain tumour in SKIMS Soura on September 10, 2017. His news of death was very shocking and people could not believe as he was a fine blend of human value. He was more knowledgeable, devoted to worship, pious and cared a lot about his students, motivated them and was extremely popular in the student community in this area. He was a very good listener, a down to earth personality and was approachable for any issue. People believe that a vacuum in our souls has been created, felt blanked out, empty inside due to loss of such a noble personality.
The contribution of great teacher makes an everlasting impression on the future of students. Students never forget the best compliments, ruthless remarks, generous encouragement and undaunted support given to them by their teachers. The advice, teachings and lessons of Master Khanday are in our hearts for sure. Teachers keep changing every now and then but great ones like Khanday sahib are remembered and never forgotten. Master Khanday was like a rare gem in education department and was like a jewel whose dearth is felt in each and every person who is related directly and indirectly with Master Khanday. Everyone in the society was feeling safe and secure in his company. There are so many things in the hearts of your students but I feel I am not able to put them into words, because the impact you had on the life of your students is really what cant be expressed in words. You have touched the life as you were an incredible educator, an honorable mentor, and a friend that only comes along once in a lifetime. Do it with a passion or dont do it at all was a mantra of your teaching, You moulded doctors, lawyers, and educators while also moulding people who are passionate about what they do. The passion of humour you exhibited for students and people around you will be in our minds. While you were changing lives of students and compelled students to a successful career, you never asked for anything from anyone. Endlessly you helped others, believed in others, and supported others all while never asking for help.
Thank you for gracing life of so many students with your presence. Thank you for the memories, and thank you for leaving your handprint on our hearts. You are a role model for rest of the teachers and definitely we will follow you. May Allah bless you, and may you rest in Jannut Ul Firdous.
With tear-moistened eyes as I pen these words still finding it hard to believe that Master Khanday is no more amongst us, an appropriate tribute would be: May Allah SWT in his infinite mercy forgive his sins, grant him a place in Jannah and watch over you and your loved ones in this hour of need.
