2nd Phase of JKPs South Kashmir Sports Festival begins

SrinagarThe 2nd Phase of South Kashmir Sports Festival 2017 Tuesday was inaugurated Swayam Prakash Pani, DIG of Police, South Kashmir Range, at Sports Stadium Tikka Bagh, Mattan Anantnag, a statement from JKPs media department said.

According to the statement, the DIGP, SKR, advised all sportsmen to be positive and play the games with team spirit in accordance to Frenchman Cubertins quote Play the Game and Play it Well. He further threw light on importance of sports in daily life.

During the opening ceremony a differently-abled cricketer Aamir Rasool of Waghama Bijbehara, was present on the occasion. Amir is representing Indian Para Cricket Team and has participated several times at national level.

A spectacular cultural programme was presented by the students of Police Public School, Anantnag, Hista Higher Secondary School, Anantnag which was appreciated by everyone. The Dare Devil team of J&K Police presented a stunning performance which was the star attraction of the occasion, the statement read.

The festival will see players competing in following disciplines: 1.T20 Cricket (Boys & Girls) 2. Volley ball (Boys & Girls) 3. Kho-Kho (Girls) 4.Track event 100 mtr (Girls) & 200 mtr (Boys) 5. Discuss Throw (Boys & Girls, 6. Wushur (Girls) 7.Tug of war (Boys) 8. Kabaddi (Boys) 9. Short version Football (Boys) 10. Short Put (Boys & Girls) 11. Karate (Boys), 12. Javelin throw (Boys & Girls).

According to the statement the top three teams and athletes of each event will be selected for the 3rd Phase of sports festival which will be played at Zonal Level.
