JAMMU: A Dalit woman was allegedly gangraped by three people in Nowshera tehsil of Rajouri district, reports reaching here said on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old victim was allegedly gangraped by three people on December 22 while she had gone to the nearby spring to fetch water, sources here said today.
They said the victim in her complaint had said Kaka Ram and Mohammad Rafiq, forcibly took her to a shop of one Madan Lal, where the three had raped her.
“The victim said she was threatened by the accused of dire consequences if she narrates matter to anybody, the sources said.
The sources added that yesterday she disclosed about the incident to her husband and the family and they took up the matter with local Panchayat members and sought help. The victim’s parents approached Guru Ravi Dass Sabha officials for help following which police registered a case and started investigations, they said.
