SRINAGAR: The electoral roll in Jammu and Kashmir stands at 68.62 lakh, according to the latest voter census, with males outnumbering females by nearly 3 lakh.
The revised rolls drawn up in an Election Commission of India exercise show an addition of 1.79 lakh voters, after deductions for deaths and migration.
Undertaken in the states 87 assembly constituencies, the census also depicts an increased tendency among young voters to get themselves formally registered, sources said.
Still, the increase is significantly less than the 5 lakh projected for youth attaining the voting age of 18.
According to the new rolls, Kashmir has 36.94 lakh voters, Jammu 31.68, and Ladakh 2 lakh.
