SrinagarGovernment Degree College Baramulla beat Government Degree College Tral in the opening encounter of the 11th Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup played at Islamia College ground on Wednesday.
In a lopsided affair, Baramulla decided to bat first to put a huge score of 217 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 35 overs. Rahi Bashir emerged as the top scorer with a 52-ball 81. He was ably supported by Tajamul Islam who nearly made run a ball 37. For GDC Tral, Zahid Khalid took four wickets while Asif pocketed a three-fer.
Chasing a target of 218 runs, GDC Tral were bundled out for 78 runs in 18 overs. Usaib was only notable scorer with 19 runs. For GDC Baramulla, Yawar Bashir took three wickets. Earlier Prof. Muzaffar Ahmed Khan the principal of the college inaugurated the tournament. He was introduced to the players of the visiting teams.
Today, GDC Ganderbal will play against GDC Pulwama. The tournament is being organized by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
