SrinagarJamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Thursday strongly condemned the continuous arrest of its spokesperson Zahid Ali and Amir Tehsil Kulgam Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, and terms it brute violation of human rights.
Zahid Ali was lodged in PS Damhal Hanji-pora Kulgam since August 4, 2017 and today authorities shifted both to sub-jail Mattan.
In a statement, the organization said that they had been detained under 153 CrPC and 13 unlawful activities at Gopalpora Kulgam by a large contingent of SOG and police on 4 August, 2017 after attending a condolence meet there. The allegations leveled against the duo leaders are baseless and concocted and as such have no relevance with reality.
Earlier bail application of the duo had also been rejected by the district & session judge Kulgam Mr. Kishore Kumar for unknown reasons.
Moreover Amir-e-Tehsil Bijbehara Gulzar Ahmad Rather was also arrested by cops of Jammu and Kashmir Police fortnight ago and is presently lodged in PS Bejbehara. Earlier Indian army had raided his house and asked his family to send him to local army camp. Later on local police detained Gulzar sahab and since then he is in illegal custody. Kashmir has been turned into a police state where no civil person is allowed to continue his/her political activities peacefully and as such police and civil administration has put the lives of common people at stake.
Jama’at vehemently condemns the continuous confinement of its leaders and the behavior of police and civil administration towards local population for subjugating them which is a sheer political vengeance. Jama’at at this juncture stands with all political prisoners of Kashmir including Dr Mohammad Shafi Shariati, Dr Muhammad Qasim Faktoo, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Masarat Alam Bhat, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat (Kulangam), Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf (Sopore), Abdul Samad Inquilabi, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi , Fehmeeda Sofi etc who are languishing in different jails for seeking the peaceful and cordial settlement of Kashmir issue in accordance to the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiris.
