SrinagarGirls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Nawakadal Saturday organized a cross country race from Nehru Park to Botanical garden here. The theme of the race was Run for Women Empowerment theme.
Speaking on the occasion, Director School Education, G. N. Itoo, said women empowerment through education is imperative for balanced social development and that the Education Department is very keen to address issues related to women empowerment.
On the occasion, the Director also distributed cash prize of one lakh rupees to the students of the college who had won this prize in the provincial level Qawali competition in the month of Ramzan.
Earlier, the Director flagged off a 3-day trekking expedition of Boys Higher Secondary School Tailbal, Srinagar. The team of students is expected to climb the famous Mahadev hills via Dara Harvan route.
Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Dy CEO, OSD Cultural Wing among others were also present on the occasion.
