SrinagarThe 10 +2 contractual lecturers Thursday staged a protest here in Kashmir capital Srinagar demanding their regularization.
Scores of lecturers assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar and raised slogans in favour of the demands. Carrying banners and placards seeking justice, the protesting lecturers said that they are being exploited under the garb of Academic Arrangement.
We want the government to change the nature of our service from Academic Arrangement to Contractual Lecturer. Our services should be regularized after a period of seven years in accordance with the special services provision Act 2010.
They said that despite approaching the higher authorities, the issue has not been resolved yet.
It is injustice to the highly educated staff that has been engaged on such a meager salary, they said.
The protesters urged the government to implement its 2009 order to extend benefits of Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010 to the lecturers.
We work together with the permanent lecturers in different colleges but get meager salary as compared to the permanent lecturers though both categories perform the same task, said a protesting lecturer to news agency CNS.
We are fully dedicated to my profession. But government has been neglecting us and ignoring all our genuine concerns, they said.
