SrinagarCricket might be numero uno sport in Kashmir in terms of money and following, but football continues to attract crowds across the valley. Srinagar might be the hub of football activity, but it is Bandiporas young soccer administrators that have lightened up the sport with something never seen before in this part of the world.
The organizers of ongoing Late Sofi Gh Mohammad Memorial Football tournament have slated the first semi-final between Mohammadan Sports Sopore and Real Kashmir Football Club as a night fixture with all of its 90 minutes to be played under floodlights at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium Bandipora.
The decision comes after people showing a great interest in the sport and organizers obliging them with something out of box development.
The Football fever is at its peak in Bandipora after a brief lull in sports activities from past few years with a number of tournaments being played in the town. The organizers expect a jam packet stadium on the match eve with football fraternity hailing the step. Though the lights installed thus far arent up to the mark, the organizers will install more lights to make sure it is an action packed historic night. The match will start at around 6:30 Pm.
Bandipora has beamed new life in football, the question is will they be able to sustain and have a ripple effect on other areas as well. As of now, Bandipora football fanatics are sports proud and progressive knights.
