SrinagarSenior Congress leader and former minister, Saif-u-Din Soz has appreciated Bashir Ahmad Bashir, a reputed cartoonist and the chief editor of Srinagar Times, for his work.
Soz conveyed his strong disagreement with the Hurriyat and the NC leaderships and asked them to resist their taste for one-up-man ship and show a little unity for the cause they pretend to be supporting in respect of Article 35-A and Article 370 of the constitution of India.
I heartily support the intelligent and impartial senior journalist and cartoonist and stress the fact that the Hurriyat should not have tried to run down Farooq Abdullah and reminding him of 1975.
A senior member of the Civil Society, however, reminded me that it was Omar Abdullah who had provoked the Hurriyat by asking it not to dabble on the issue related to 35-A as it happens to be part of the constitution of India which they do not accept.
When I issued a statement recently on Ram Jaithmalanis assertion that Article 35-A could not be removed, I had concluded my statement with emphasis that the Hurriyat and the mainstream should be on the same page on 35-A as that could be a political advantage for the J&K State.
